veggies as art
every month during the season, we celebrate artists celebrating veggies. these are the veggies in season!
Heather Miller created this stunning illustration to celebrate june veg!
about the artist: Heather loves to travel, eat, and hike and gets a lot of inspiration from a combination of these things. her illustrations are often nature-themed, food-themed, or places she’s daydreamed about traveling to-themed. her fave veg is a tomato (to both eat and draw) & she just sent a friend a birthday card with this pun: “I carrot about you a whole bunch”. cute.

behind the scenes
Deanna Baris created our first ever block print to celebrate may veg!
about the artist: Deanna is based in brooklyn and her fave veggies are brussels sprouts (rare but nice to hear)! she loves springtime blooms
& long walks outside. when asked for a food pun we got this zinger: “what do you call a bridge made of pasta? the tappan ziti”! lol. you can find more of Deanna’s work on instagram @growing__paints
the medium: block printing is a process that involves using a sharp tool to carve the negative form of a design (in reverse!) out of a printing block, often made from linoleum or wood. then, ink is rolled onto the carved block and pressed onto the final media. for a multicolor print,
a different block is used for each color. since they’re hand stamped, each print is a little bit different!

the making of

in 2024, we teamed with the artist Damien F Cuypers to create a snack of the week series. every week during the farmers’ market season, Chef Madison would create a snack highlighting the veggies from the farm and Damien would memorialize
the snack as art. pretty cool.
we love wearing our veg! Suzzy of Warm Clay Co created wearable clay charms to highlight our favorite veggies. we are so in love.
if you are an artist who loves celebrating veggies, we’d love to chat
